Homestead Fair – Hayrides, Cow Milking, and Crafts, Oh My!
The 27th Annual Homestead Fair offers craft demonstrations, agricultural exhibits, music, activities for children, shopping, seminars, wonderful food, and much more. Children can make hand dipped candles or soap balls, go on a horse drawn hayride, enjoy home made ice cream, watch sheep herding, cow and goat milking, butter and cheese making,barn building, and meet farm animals. The Ploughshare Institute for Sustainable Culture will offer seminars dedicated to knowledge and skills that provide essentials for living on a sustainable basis. Craft demonstrations include woodworking with hand tools, weaving, spinning, basket weaving, leather work and more.
Be sure to take the historic buildings walking tour a 1760’s New Jersey barn, an 1830’s Missouri cabin, and an 1860’s New York smokehouse, and a restored 1760’s gristmill which is in use today grinding whole wheat flour and cornmeal.
