In Company With Angels Stained Glass Exhibit

The Historic Waco Foundation (HWF) has brought a collection of stained glass windows created by Louis Comfort Tiffany at the beginning of the 20th Century to Waco. They are on display for the first time in Texas. The exhibit entitled “In Company with Angels” depicts seven angels symbolizing early Christian churches in Asia Minor as described in the book of Revelation. The windows will be available for public viewing at Waco’s Lee Lockwood Scottish Rite Library and Museum starting this November through January. To enhance the exhibit, HWF will host a series of lectures, workshops, and other special events.

Originally installed in 1903 at the Swedenborgian Church of the New Jerusalem in Ohio, the windows survived the demolition of the church in 1964 that cleared the way for an Interstate. The eight-foot-tall lancet windows were rediscovered in 2001, restored in 2004, and have toured the nation since 2007, with a portion of the proceeds funding their care and maintenance.

During the time the exhibit is in Waco, November 3rd through January 26, 2014, public tours are available Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday are noon to 3 p.m. Exhibit hours are extended until 7 p.m. on Thursdays. Tickets are $10 with special rates for groups, children, and Senior Citizens. General admission tickets are available online at wacoangels.eventbrite.com.
