The Waco Hippodrome Celebrates Their Grand Re-opening.
The century old Waco Hippodrome Theatre is back in business, and the celebration will last an entire week! For complete event details and ticket information, click here.
The festivities kick off with a Grand Opening Gala on November 14th, moderated by Julie Hays from KWTX, and featuring performances by Out on a Limb Dance Company, Baylor Percussion, Baylor Theater, and FACE.
November 15th brings a Grand Opening Concert and Street Party. Restless Heart, Lorrie Morgan and Mel Tillis will be live inside the theatre, and performances from various local artists will be on the outside stage with a street dance (headlined by Ray Johnston Band). Local food trucks will be on the scene, too!
November 16th will be Family Fun Night. There will be free tours of the Hippodrome, and showings of a family friendly film running in the afternoon and evening.
November 17th’s highlight will be live performances of “Liberty! Fireworks! Equality!” by Polyanna Theatre Company of Austin.
November 18th celebrates the history of the Hippodrome and the movies with a showing of the classic movie “There’s No Business Like Show Business” with an introduction prior to the show and a talkback following by film scholar Frank Campbell.
November 19th winds down Grand Opening week with a Christian concert by The Gladsome Light and Joel Sprayberry.
The fun doesn’t end there. The newly renovated Waco Hippodrome Theatre also features a bar and restaurant, and promises something fun 365 days each year. The venue will show first run movies on the weekends, starting with “The Hunger Games” opening on November 21st, and select events throughout the weekdays.
