Baylor Libraries Author’s Series
The Dean of Libraries, Museums, and the Press proudly announces the next selected volume in the Baylor Libraries Author Series—”Remembering Antônia Teixeira: A Story of Missions, Violence, and Institutional Hypocrisy” by Dr. João Chaves, Assistant Professor of the History of Religion in the Américas, and Dr. Mikeal Parsons, University Distinguished Professor and Kidd L. & Buna Hitchcock Macon Professor of Religion (Eerdmans, 2023)
On Tuesday, September 17, at 3:00 p.m. in the Schumacher Flex Commons of Moody Library on the campus of Baylor University, the authors will be joined by Dr. Beth Allison Barr, The James Vardaman Endowed Professor of History, for a conversation about the book. The conversation will be followed by a book signing and reception with light refreshments. Copies of the book will be sold at the event by the Baylor Bookstore.
Please Note: “Remembering Antônia Teixeira” details the sexual assault of a Baylor student in 1894 through summaries and quotations as given by Antônia in trial testimony and interviews as well as medical experts. Her assault will be discussed during this Baylor Libraries Author Series session.
